Steam turbine governor valve repairWe have a Coppus-Murray Type K steam turbine that has a problem with the steam governor valve assembly. The most logical solution is to replace the valve. Unfortunately the replacement of the valve would require a disassembly of the turbine including the removal of the turbine rotor. The next logical solution is to repair the valve in place. Again this is a problem due to the design of the valve and the lack of working space. Has anyone had any experience with field repair of steam valves using the "portable" boring, facing and machining equipment? Is it possible to weld repair steam valves in A216 Gr. WCB material?
